A Car is Not an Accomplishment

I bought a car recently... And everyone said the exact same thing… “Congratulations”!

But I find this weird. Why do we congratulate each other for buying something?

I don’t see a car as an accomplishment.

To me, it’s a straightforward transaction. Like buying clothing or a drink at a bar.

There’s little to no friction. For years, I’ve challenged myself to wake up early and get to the gym whether it’s blazing hot or freezing cold. No one congratulated me for that. I’ll fail a business pursuit or project over and over while doing my best to maintain optimism. No one congratulates me for that. How do we determine what’s worth a congratulations?
