“I’m so lost and I don’t know what to do”.
That’s what someone wrote to me a little while back.
It was a young man named Firo, age 24 working a standard 9–5 but not making much money.
He explained that he wanted to eventually move out of his parent’s house, start a company, get in shape, and eventually get out into the dating market.
Very ambitious goals. And, if you’re reading this, I’m sure you can relate to wanting these things or at least a version of these things. He asked what I’d recommend he do.
What I suggested was a bit complex and strategic (because I like to give thorough, step-by-step processes).
But the gist of it all is what I’ll share with you.
1) Figure out what matters most in your current circumstance
Do you need money?
Do you need energy?
Do you need inspiration?
Do you just need to relax and grind it out?
You need to ask this question first. Chances are, you’re panicking and overwhelmed because you have TOO MUCH on your mind.
You need to delete the excess thoughts and understand that trying to do too much at once will only be detrimental. You need to focus on the 1 or 2 things that matter.
(In Firo’s case, he simply needed to worry less and do more of what was working, which was saving money at his full-time job).
2) Determine what you’re aiming for You need to know where you’re going. And most people ghost through life. In Firo’s situation, he wanted to be “Successful” but that doesn’t mean anything.
Everyone has different versions of success.
A college kid thinks success is dating IG models and balling out at clubs in Miami.
A 40-year-old man thinks success is being able to pay the bills and support a family solely on his own income while having enough to enjoy life. A 16-year-old thinks success is being the best football player at his high school and making it to college.
Success is relative. So you need to define EXACTLY what it looks like to you and WHY you desire that version of success.
3) Schedule your day by the hour to do the things that matter most and lead you to the outcome you desire.
I’ve been binging Ryan Serhant lately. I met him in person a few years ago and just watched his show on Netflix called Owning Manhattan. (I love reality TV shows, especially when they’re about money).
If you don’t know about him, he’s earned billions in real estate. And all he talks about is living by his calendar. In fact, if you listen to most millionaires and billionaires, they live by this.
And yet, most people struggling in life (like Firo was — no shade to him) seem to think planning their day is a waste of time.
It’s funny how a simple action (or lack of action) can make a massive difference in life. My point with this is: Schedule your day.
There’s NO reason why you shouldn’t be doing this TODAY. (And if you claim you don’t have time, you’re the one who needs to schedule your day the most).
